NFL Draft Prospect Banks Anticipates June Clearance for Foot Injury

Pittsburgh — Former Florida defensive tackle Caleb Banks is making significant strides in his recovery from a foot injury. NFL teams recently received an update on his condition, indicating that he is on track to be fully cleared for football activities by early June.
Progress on Recovery
The update comes after Banks underwent a CT scan on Tuesday. Renowned foot and ankle specialist Dr. Norman Waldrop assessed the scan results at the Andrews Clinic. Banks had previously undergone surgery on March 9 to repair a fractured fourth metatarsal in his left foot.
Draft Prospects
As one of the top defensive tackles in the 2025 draft class, Banks showcased his skills at the Senior Bowl in January, which positively impacted his draft stock. Unfortunately, he suffered a bone injury at the NFL Scouting Combine in February, raising concerns regarding his overall health. Prior to this injury, Banks missed significant playing time in the 2025 season due to a previous foot issue, appearing in just three games.
Player Profile
Banks stands at 6-foot-6 and weighs 327 pounds. He is currently ranked among the top five defensive tackles by ESPN draft analysts. Notably, both Jordan Reid and Field Yates have positioned him at No. 3 within his category.
2024 Performance Highlights
During the 2024 season, Banks emerged as a formidable interior defender in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). He recorded:
- Seven tackles for loss
- 4.5 sacks
- Two forced fumbles
Entering the 2025 season, he was recognized as a second-team All-SEC preseason selection. Throughout the 2023 season, Banks played in 12 games, logging 19 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss.
As the NFL Draft approaches, the updates on Banks’ recovery will be critical for teams assessing his potential and fit within their defensive schemes.
