The Niagara River Lions have officially revealed their coaching, training, and basketball operations staff for the 2026 season. This announcement comes as the team aims to maintain its successful track record in the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). The organization’s commitment to building a strong, cohesive team remains evident as they prepare for another competitive season.
Leadership Transition and Coaching Staff
Kimbal Mackenzie takes on the role of Head Coach and General Manager. Mackenzie, a former player with the River Lions from 2023 to 2025, was instrumental in fostering the team’s championship culture. He has previously served as the Community and Brand Ambassador, showcasing his dedication to the Niagara community.
Victor Raso, the previous Head Coach and General Manager, will serve as Senior Advisor for Player Personnel & Basketball Operations. Raso has been with the River Lions since 2017, contributing significantly to the team’s identity and competitive standards.
Returning Coaches
- Andrew Sergi: Assistant Coach, entering his third season, brings over 30 years of coaching experience.
- William Gatchalian: Returning for his second year, previously contributed at the U SPORTS level with Brock University.
- Jeff Zwolak: Chief of Staff, incredibly valuable for leadership, in his 8th season with the River Lions.
New Coaching Additions
- Pablo Vazquez: Newly appointed Assistant Coach, brings a decade of experience with the Leicester Riders in England.
- Jake Babic: Former player with the River Lions, now Assistant Coach, also involved in youth development coaching.
Basketball Operations Team
The Basketball Operations team will be led by Tyler Vincent as the Manager of Business and Basketball Operations, assisted by Paolo Buot as Basketball Operations Coordinator. Interns Ryota Wolff, Jared Colangeli, and Curtis Henderson will contribute to day-to-day operations.

- Trevor Kwolek: Head Athletic Therapist.
- Matrixx Ferreira and Myles Methner: Strength and Conditioning Coaches.
