Chelsea to Host All WSL Matches at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea FC has announced that starting next season, all Women’s Super League (WSL) matches will be held at Stamford Bridge. This significant move concludes a nine-year tenure at Kingsmeadow, located in Kingston upon Thames, which has a capacity of 4,850, including 2,265 seats. Kingsmeadow has consistently been sold out, showcasing the strong support for the women’s team.
Chelsea’s Women’s Matches at Stamford Bridge
Under the leadership of CEO Aki Mandhar, who joined in September 2024, Chelsea aims to make Stamford Bridge their permanent home for women’s matches. Mandhar expressed the club’s ambition, stating, “Our commitment reaffirms our ambition and intent to make Chelsea the leading women’s sports club in the world.”
Strategic Vision for Women’s Football
The decision to host WSL matches at Stamford Bridge reflects a strategic vision to elevate women’s football. Mandhar noted, “Playing WSL matches at such an iconic ground ensures our players and supporters have the arena they deserve as we look to propel the game into its next phase of growth.” This transition aligns with a broader trend in women’s football, as clubs like Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Leicester City have recently moved their matches to larger venues.
- Final game at Kingsmeadow: April 6, 2024
- Last match result: Chelsea 2, Tottenham 1 (Women’s FA Cup semi-finals)
- Upcoming home games: Scheduled for Stamford Bridge
