Quebec Weather: Summer Preview Saturday Before Possible Snow Returns

Quebec is set to experience a brief taste of summer this Saturday, following a series of dull and rainy days. However, winter is poised to make a comeback shortly after this warm spell.
Weather Changes in Quebec
Recently, Quebec has been in the grip of a chilly spring characterized by persistent rain and cloudiness. Julien Pellerin, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, noted that this fluctuation is part of the seasonal transition from winter to summer. Since March 1st, the province has faced challenges due to alternating warm and cold air masses.
Rainfall Predictions
A series of weather systems is affecting the area. Rainfall is expected Thursday evening and continuing into Friday morning, accumulating between 15 to 20 mm across a large corridor from Greater Montreal to Mauricie and northern Outaouais.
Summer Preview on Saturday
Temperatures will start rising on Friday, reaching 17 to 18 °C in Montérégie and near 20 °C in parts of southern Outaouais. Saturday promises to bring more warmth, with temperatures potentially exceeding 20 °C in multiple regions. Montreal and Trois-Rivières may hit 20 °C, while Montérégie and the Ottawa area could see highs of 21 to 22 °C.
Forecast for Sunday and Monday
The summer-like warmth will be short-lived. By Sunday, an incoming weather system will bring more rain to southern and central Quebec, particularly impacting Montreal and Outaouais. Following this, temperatures will rapidly decline from Sunday evening to Monday, with the mercury possibly nearing 0 °C in the St. Lawrence Valley.
- Expected Highs on Saturday:
- Montreal: 20 °C
- Trois-Rivières: 20 °C
- Montérégie: 21 to 22 °C
- Rain Accumulation (Thursday to Friday): 15 to 20 mm
- Potential Return of Snow: Monday
Snow may return to several areas, including Montreal, Estrie, Mauricie, and Beauce, although no significant accumulation is anticipated. Fortunately, these colder temperatures are expected to last no longer than two days before values return to seasonal norms.
