Davis, Kald, Rep Announced as 2025-26 Top Defenceman Award Finalists

Three standout players have been named finalists for the 2025-26 Top Defenceman Award: Wyatt Davis of the Alberni Valley Bulldogs, Erik Kald of the Sherwood Park Crusaders, and Ozbej Rep of the Prince George Spruce Kings. These talented athletes have demonstrated remarkable performances throughout the season.
Wyatt Davis – Alberni Valley Bulldogs
Wyatt Davis is in his third season with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs. He reached career highs in all offensive categories this year. Davis tied for the league lead among defencemen with 17 goals and finished with 44 points in 53 games.
- Power-play specialist with seven goals scored while on the man advantage.
- Registered two shorthanded goals, the most among BCHL defencemen.
- Achieved three points in several games, demonstrating consistent offensive output.
Davis has committed to Stonehill College for his further education and hockey career.
Erik Kald – Sherwood Park Crusaders
Joining the Sherwood Park Crusaders in late October, Erik Kald quickly made an impact. He finished with 44 points in 42 games, ranking third in points for defencemen.
- Had an impressive scoring rate of 1.05 points per game.
- Recorded 16 goals, just one behind the league leader for defencemen.
- Scored two goals and three assists in a notable five-point game against the Okotoks Oilers.
Kald also celebrated his first BCHL hat trick in a rematch against the Oilers in February.
Ozbej Rep – Prince George Spruce Kings
Ozbej Rep has emerged as a dominant offensive force. He led all BCHL defencemen with 52 points in 54 games this season.
- Led in assists among defencemen with 46, only two shy of the overall league lead.
- Achieved 33 power-play points, the highest in the league, including 30 power-play assists.
- Maintained a record of 15 multi-point games, showcasing his scoring ability.
Rep’s contributions have been vital to the Spruce Kings, whose power play ranked second in the BCHL with a 30% success rate this season.
Award Selection Process
The finalists for the 2025-26 Top Defenceman Award were determined through a vote by the 20 BCHL head coaches and general managers. The winners will be announced during the playoffs, specifically between the second and third rounds.
Each finalist has demonstrated exceptional skill and performance this season. Their achievements highlight the depth of talent in the BCHL.
