British GT Champ Ricky Collard Joins Team VERTU Touring Car Line-Up

Ricky Collard has officially joined Team VERTU for the upcoming 2026 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) season. This marks his return to the series for a third full season after competing with Toyota for the last two years. At 29 years old, Collard aims to build on his previous experience and success.
Team VERTU Line-up for 2026 Season
Collard joins a competitive roster that includes:
- Tom Ingram (Defending Champion)
- Tom Chilton
- Nicolas Hamilton
Collard’s debut with the Hyundai i30 Fastback N will occur during the season launch at Brands Hatch.
Ricky Collard’s Racing Background
A third-generation racer, Ricky Collard began his career in karting. He moved to Formula Ford for his first full season in 2014. In 2015, he finished as the runner-up in the inaugural British F4 series, narrowly losing to Lando Norris. He continued to excel, finishing second in BRDC British F3, now known as GB3.
Transitioning to sportscar racing, Collard achieved multiple victories in prestigious series like ADAC GT Masters and Blancpain GT Championship. His success also includes winning the British GT Championship alongside his father.
Goals for the 2026 Season
Collard is eager to add to his two BTCC podium finishes. The previous season saw Team VERTU secure nine wins, and Collard believes he can replicate this success. He stated, “I have unfinished business in the BTCC. I’ve shown I can compete at the front, and now I want to secure a victory.”
Despite a late deal that limits his pre-season track time, Collard is optimistic about his prospects, saying, “The Hyundai is a strong package, and with Team VERTU’s support, I’m ready to hit the ground running.”
Team VERTU’s Confidence in Collard
Team owner Justina Williams expressed enthusiasm about Collard joining the team. She highlighted his diverse experience and previous championship success. Williams believes that Collard’s past performances indicate he is capable of competing for podiums. “We are confident he will be a strong addition, and I see no reason why he can’t fight at the front this season,” she noted.
As the BTCC season approaches, all eyes will be on Ricky Collard and Team VERTU as they prepare for the opening event at Donington Park later this month.
