CFIA Recalls Salads, Cheeses, and Meal Kits for Listeria Risks

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued recalls for several food items due to potential listeria contamination. These products include salads, cheeses, and meal kits linked to health risks.
Details of the Recalls
Among the recalled items is the Co-Op brand creamy garlic and spinach salad. This product is sold in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, and Saskatchewan. The affected lot has best-before dates ranging from March 24 to April 4.
Cheese Products Affected
The recall also includes a variety of cheese items distributed across Canada. Affected products consist of:
- Bothwell shredded three-cheese nacho blend (available in 400-gram and 1-kilogram packages)
- Goldstream cheddar style shredded processed cheese
- Paradise Island brand Asiago shredded cheese
Additionally, the recall has been extended to include cheese ingredients used in some Hello Fresh meal kits sold nationwide. This expansion follows a previous recall announced last Monday.
Health Risks and Advisories
Consumers are urged not to consume these products. Listeria can contaminate food without visible signs of spoilage. Symptoms of listeria infection may include vomiting, nausea, and persistent fever. Fortunately, the CFIA has not reported any illnesses linked to these recalls.
