Raiders’ Bowers Rested, Set to Play Sunday

Las Vegas Raiders’ tight end Brock Bowers, dealing with a knee injury, rests in preparation for the upcoming matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. Bowers missed two consecutive practice days, but Coach Pete Carroll remains optimistic, indicating that he expects Bowers to participate on Sunday.
Brock Bowers’ Injury Update
Bowers was held out of practice to ensure he receives adequate rest. Carroll clarified that Bowers did not experience any setback; the decision was purely precautionary. “We wanted to slow things down a bit for him,” Carroll stated, emphasizing the team’s focus on player health.
Despite the knee issue, which he has been managing since the season opener against the New England Patriots, Bowers expressed improvement week by week. “I want to get back to full strength,” Bowers shared. However, he noted the frustration of grappling with a lingering injury. His recent performance has suffered, with a drop to 14 catches for 122 yards following a strong Week 1 showing of five catches for 103 yards.
Offensive Challenges for the Raiders
In its last outing, Bowers managed to lead the Raiders in receiving yards against the Chicago Bears, totaling 46 yards. Notably, this ongoing decline in his production includes three games where he recorded under 50 yards, marking an unusual stretch in his two-year career.
In addition to Bowers’ troubles, the Raiders offense faces further challenges. Starting left tackle Kolton Miller was placed on injured reserve due to a high ankle sprain incurred in the game against the Bears. Furthermore, tight end Michael Mayer is also questionable after missing last week’s game due to a concussion.
- Brock Bowers: Questionable for Sunday, knee injury.
- Kolton Miller: Placed on injured reserve for a high ankle sprain.
- Michael Mayer: Questionable, practiced limitedly this week.
- Brennan Jackson: Placed on injured reserve (foot).
- Alex Bachman: Signed to active roster from practice squad.
With these injuries affecting their roster, the Raiders will need to adjust their offensive strategies moving forward. Coach Carroll emphasized the commitment to utilizing Bowers’ skills effectively as he continues his recovery. “We’re still trying to get him the ball,” he affirmed, with hopes of seeing improved performance as Bowers gradually transitions away from the knee brace.
