Mel Schilling, the renowned dating coach from Married at First Sight, has shared an unfortunate update about her health. She revealed that her cancer has progressed, having spread to her brain. Doctors informed the 54-year-old that there are no further treatment options available.

In December 2023, Schilling was diagnosed with colon cancer. Following treatment, she received the all-clear. However, in February 2024, doctors identified small nodules in her lungs, leading her to undergo multiple rounds of chemotherapy. While she was preparing to join a clinical trial in March, she received heartbreaking news over Christmas. The cancer had spread to the left side of her brain, prompting her oncology team to inform her that no additional treatments were possible.
A Difficult Battle
In an emotional Instagram post, Schilling expressed how hearing those words altered her reality. She stated, “My light is starting to fade — and quickly.” Despite her challenges, Schilling emphasized her determination to fight, stating, “I am still here, still fighting, and surrounded by the most incredible love.”
Simple daily tasks have become increasingly challenging for her. Schilling relies heavily on support from her family, including her husband Gareth and daughter Maddie. “I honestly don’t know how long I have left, but I do know I will fight to my last breath,” she said. She has also received numerous messages of encouragement from fans, which she appreciates deeply. These messages have helped shape her mindset during this challenging time.

Channel 4 confirmed that the expert John Aiken will take her place for the remainder of the UK series currently in production.
