Jake Knapp Withdraws from Arnold Palmer Invitational Golf Tournament

Jake Knapp has officially withdrawn from the 2026 Arnold Palmer Invitational golf tournament shortly before beginning his opening round. The announcement was made at 11:50 a.m. ET on Thursday by the PGA Tour through their social media channels. Knapp was originally scheduled to tee off at 12:05 p.m.
According to his agent, Knapp is currently dealing with an illness and has decided to rest before the upcoming Players Championship next week. This decision comes after a strong start to the 2026 golf season for Knapp.
Knapp’s Performance This Season
As of the week preceding the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Knapp ranked eighth in the FedEx Cup standings. His season highlights include:
- Four consecutive top-10 finishes.
- A solo sixth-place finish at the Genesis Invitational.
- A T-11 finish at the Sony Open in Hawaii, his lowest result of the season.
Impact of Withdrawal
With Knapp’s withdrawal, China’s Haotong Li, who was positioned first on the alternate list, will take his place in the tournament at Bay Hill. This event is notable as it is one of the PGA Tour’s signature tournaments, featuring a reduced field and elevated prize money.
The Arnold Palmer Invitational has specific qualifying criteria: the top 50 players and ties, plus anyone within 10 strokes of the lead after Friday’s rounds, will make the cut and receive a guaranteed payout.
This year’s tournament marks the third signature event on the 2026 PGA Tour schedule, highlighting its importance in the competitive landscape of professional golf.
