We Can Lead Trends, But Only Through Collaboration

The recent upgrade of the Primskovo distribution transformer station (RTP) in Kranj is a significant development for both the local community and the broader region. This enhancement includes the addition of a transformer station dedicated to a future charging park for buses, trucks, and other electric vehicles, marking a step towards sustainable transportation.
Importance of the RTP Primskovo Upgrade
The RTP Primskovo and its associated charging stations will improve accessibility for electric vehicles. Located near the anticipated new Kranj North highway exit, these facilities will also serve transit vehicles. This strategic positioning aligns with regional infrastructure developments aimed at promoting electric mobility.
Modernizing Infrastructure to Serve 17,000 Customers
- The RTP now fuels approximately 17,000 consumers.
- It supports the Jože Pučnik Airport, reinforcing its significance.
- Old air switchgear has been replaced with modern technology, enhancing reliability.
Investment and Funding
The total investment for upgrading the RTP reached €13.3 million. A substantial portion of this, €5.35 million, came from a European grant within the Green Switch project. This funding is pivotal for advancing sustainable energy solutions in the area.
Future Capabilities of the Charging Station
According to Ivan Šmon, the CEO of Elektra Gorenjska, the new charging facility is designed to accommodate various power levels. This versatility ensures that it can meet the charging needs of buses, utility vehicles, and local residents effectively.
As Kranj continues to evolve towards a more sustainable future, the collaboration between local stakeholders and European initiatives will play a crucial role. By harnessing shared resources and technology, advancements in infrastructure such as the RTP Primskovo will lead the region in electric vehicle adoption.
