Demary Jr. and Mullins Dominate BIG EAST Weekly Awards
In a remarkable week, the No. 4 UConn men’s basketball team swept the BIG EAST weekly awards. Silas Demary Jr. earned his first Player of the Week title, while Braylon Mullins captured his second Freshman of the Week honor. This accomplishment reflects a significant achievement for the Huskies, marking their first sweep since December 2024.
Demary Jr.’s Standout Performances
Silas Demary Jr. distinguished himself with outstanding performances in recent games. He scored 23 points and made 15 assists against Providence on January 7. This performance was exceptional, ranking as the third-most assists in a single game in UConn history.
This game also marked the second time a player recorded a 20-point, 15-assist double-double in BIG EAST history. Demary Jr. played a pivotal role in UConn’s overtime victory, sealing the game with a crucial bucket in the final seconds, contributing to a 103-98 comeback win.
Demary Jr. Consistency
In the following matchup against DePaul on January 10, Demary Jr. contributed 14 points and led the team with four assists. Throughout his first six BIG EAST games, the 6-foot-4 junior boasts an average of 11.8 points per game along with an impressive 8.0 assists, the highest in the league.

Mullins Shines as a Freshman

In the subsequent game against DePaul, Mullins led all scorers with 16 points and secured a new career-high with seven rebounds. His shooting performance included a perfect record from the free-throw line, showcasing his all-around skills.
