Olympic Rower Helen Glover Attends CSIA Sports and Arts Awards Gala

Students at Camborne Science & International Academy (CSIA) recently celebrated a year of accomplishments in sports and the performing arts. The highlight of the evening was the appearance of double Olympic champion Helen Glover, who joined in the festivities as a special guest. The annual awards gala is part of the school’s commitment to recognize student achievements through the Athena Learning Trust.

Celebrating Achievements in Sports and Arts

The CSIA Sports and Performing Arts Awards Evening acknowledged students for their dedication and teamwork. Awards presented included:

  • Sports Personality of the Year
  • Athlete of the Year
  • Rising Stars
  • Team of the Year
  • Various performing arts categories

The event also highlighted the accomplishments of CSIA’s Sports Leaders, many of whom earned nationally recognized leadership qualifications.

Olympic Experience Shared

As the guest speaker, Helen Glover shared her personal journey in elite sports. She emphasized the importance of perseverance and resilience when competing at the highest levels. Helen achieved gold medals in the women’s pair at the London 2012 Olympics and Rio 2016. She also made history as the first British mother of three to win an Olympic medal, securing silver in the women’s four at Paris 2024.

Throughout the evening, Helen engaged with students, answering questions about training, setbacks, and personal motivation.

Award Winners Announced

During the gala, Liv C was honored as the girls’ Sports Personality of the Year. The boys’ award went to co-winners Fyn M and Harley S, recognizing their exceptional performances and leadership. This year’s awards highlighted the school’s dedication to fostering talent and community spirit.
