Tate Modern Attacker Sentenced for Assaulting Nurses at Broadmoor

A man previously convicted for a severe crime at the Tate Modern has been sentenced again for assaulting nurses. Jonty Bravery, age 24, received a 16-week jail term for attacking two nurses at Broadmoor Hospital.
Details of the Assault
The incidents occurred in September 2024. Bravery kicked one nurse in the thigh and clawed at another’s face, causing injury. The staff were restraining him at the time, as he had attempted to throw himself off a window ledge.
Background of Jonty Bravery
Bravery is notorious for throwing a six-year-old boy from the 10th floor of the Tate Modern gallery in 2019. The child survived but suffered significant injuries, including multiple broken bones and a brain injury. Bravery had been sentenced to a minimum of 15 years for this attempted murder.
Previous Assaults
This is not Bravery’s first instance of violence at Broadmoor. He was previously sentenced to 14 weeks in 2020 for assaulting staff. His history of aggression raises concerns about his behavior while at the psychiatric facility.
Current Status
At Broadmoor, Bravery is under constant surveillance, monitored 24 hours a day. His living conditions are stark, with his room furnished only with a mattress. During the trial, the judge noted the improbability of Bravery’s early release, stating significant changes would be required for that to happen.
