The A49, a major route south of Shrewsbury, was closed due to hazardous conditions caused by the snowfall. The Met Office’s amber warning began at 20:00 GMT on Thursday and extends across the Midlands and Wales.
Road Closures and Transport Disruptions
- The A49 closure affects the stretch between Leebotwood and Little Lyth.
- Additional closures were noted further south near Woofferton.

School Closures Across the Region
In response to the severe weather conditions, approximately 50 schools and educational institutions in Shropshire announced they would close on Friday. Snowfall predictions indicate that some areas may experience accumulations of 20 to 30 centimeters overnight.
