In a significant roster move, the Chicago Cubs have acquired pitcher Edward Cabrera from the Miami Marlins. The transaction involves top outfield prospect Owen Caissie and two additional hitting prospects, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

Edward Cabrera, 27, had a noteworthy season with Miami. He recorded a 3.53 ERA and showcased his abilities through:

  • 132.2 innings pitched
  • 150 strikeouts

Since his MLB debut in 2021, Cabrera has been a reliable option for the Marlins. Throughout his career, he holds a record of 21 wins and 27 losses, with a 4.07 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP over 89 appearances, primarily as a starting pitcher.

Future Prospects for Cabrera

Importantly, Cabrera has yet to participate in post-season play. However, he remains under team control and is eligible for arbitration for three more seasons, until 2028, before entering free agency.
