Good Morning Britain Debuts Live Broadcast from ITN Studios

Today marks a significant shift in ITV 1’s programming as it implements various on-screen changes. These alterations are part of comprehensive cost-cutting measures aimed at streamlining operations. Key among these changes is the premiere live broadcast of *Good Morning Britain* (GMB) from ITN Studios, a first for the program, which previously aired from Television Centre.
Good Morning Britain’s New Era
*Good Morning Britain* now broadcasts from ITN’s Studio 1, which is smaller than its former home. The transition reflects broader production adjustments; GMB’s dedicated production team has merged with the ITV News operation.
Details of the New Set
- The new set retains elements reminiscent of the previous layout at TVC.
- Significantly, the main desk has been reduced in size.
- A new soft presentation area has been introduced.
- The graphic design remains unchanged for continuity.
While viewers will notice a shift in the studio’s scale, most will find little difference when not viewing wide shots. The program’s length has also increased, now running until 9:30 AM.
Changes in Programming Schedule
The revised schedule sees *Lorraine*, the successor program, starting at 9:30 AM, reduced to just 30 minutes. Following this, *This Morning* begins at 10 AM, with *Loose Women* airing at 12:30 PM. Notably, all three programs have also relocated to a shared studio at The H Club in Covent Garden.
New Soap Schedule
Tonight, ITV will introduce a new soap schedule with a special crossover episode titled *Corriedale*. Beginning tomorrow, the revised timings for *Emmerdale* and *Coronation Street* will be:
| Time | Show |
|---|---|
| 8:00 PM – 8:30 PM | Emmerdale |
| 8:30 PM – 9:00 PM | Coronation Street |
This schedule change results in a reduction of one hour per week for soaps, dropping from six hours to five. As these changes take effect today, *Good Morning Britain* and ITV look forward to a new chapter at ITN Studios.
