Identified: Woman Killed in Madera County Suspected DUI Crash

Tragedy struck in Madera County when a New Year’s Eve crash claimed the lives of two individuals. The California Highway Patrol reported that the accident occurred on January 1, 2026, when an SUV collided with a big rig.

Details of the Madera County Crash

The incident happened at the intersection of Road 23 and Avenue 13. The SUV’s driver was traveling west on Avenue 13 when they failed to stop at a traffic signal, resulting in a collision with the big rig.

Victims Identified

  • Isabella Marlene Nevarez, 21, was one of the victims.
  • A male driver was also killed in the crash.

Both individuals died at the scene, while three other passengers in the SUV sustained injuries.

Investigation Findings

Initial investigations suggest that none of the occupants in the SUV were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. This led to four of the five passengers being ejected from the vehicle.

The driver of the big rig emerged unscathed from the accident. Authorities indicated that alcohol and/or drugs are likely factors contributing to the crash.
