New 10K Race Added to Vienna City Marathon

In a notable development, the Vienna City Marathon (VCM) has announced the introduction of a new event for running enthusiasts. Due to high demand, organizers have added a “10K Coffee Run” to complement the existing marathon, half-marathon, and relay race.
Details of the 10K Coffee Run
Scheduled for April 19, 2026, the 10K Coffee Run will kick off at 8 a.m. from the Reichsbrücke, parallel to the start of the marathon activities. The run will progress past iconic landmarks such as the Riesenrad and continue along the Prater Hauptallee and the Ringstraße, culminating at the official VCM finish line.
Event Specifications
- Distance: 10 kilometers
- Start Time: 8:00 a.m.
- Time Limit: Participants must finish by 9:30 a.m.
- Registration Fee: 55 Euros
- Capacity: Limited to 3,000 participants
The decision to add this event comes as the other races quickly reached their participant limits, with registrations closing as early as October. The new race aims to accommodate more runners who wish to be part of the prestigious Vienna City Marathon experience.
Motivation Behind the New Run
Organizers expressed their goal of providing “as many running enthusiasts as possible” the opportunity to take part. They highlighted that the shorter race is easier to manage from an organizational perspective compared to the full marathon and half-marathon events.
With the introduction of the 10K Coffee Run, the VCM continues to foster a love for running in Vienna, ensuring that the city’s marathon tradition remains accessible to a broader audience.
