Trump Justifies Criticism of Late Hollywood Director Rob Reiner

Former Hollywood director Rob Reiner, known for his liberal activism, frequently criticized former President Donald Trump. He labeled Trump as “mentally unfit” in 2017 and expressed concerns about Trump leading the U.S. toward “full-on autocracy” as recently as October 2023.

Trump Responds to Criticism from Rob Reiner

In response to Reiner’s criticisms, Trump labeled the late director a “deranged person.” He also suggested that Reiner was involved in previous allegations of collusion between Russia and his administration. Trump remarked, “I was not a fan of Rob Reiner at all, in any way, shape or form.”

Trump’s History of Controversial Remarks

Trump has a history of making contentious remarks about political opponents after their passing. Following the death of Senator John McCain in 2019, Trump stated he “was never a fan” of McCain. He also made a provocative comment about the late lawmaker John Dingell, suggesting he could be “looking up” from the grave, implying a connection to hell. The White House later clarified that Trump was “just riffing” during his remarks.

Rob Reiner, who passed away at age 78, directed a range of iconic films, such as:

Reiner married Michele, an accomplished actress, photographer, and producer, in 1989. The couple met while working on one of Reiner’s famous films, When Harry Met Sally.
