Edmonton Teacher Faces Charges for Multiple Sex Offenses with Student

In Edmonton, a 32-year-old teacher has been charged with multiple sexual offenses involving a student. Dylan Rosychuk, who worked at Hilwie Hamdon School, was arrested following an investigation by the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team’s internet child exploitation unit. This school serves students from kindergarten to Grade 9 and is located in the city’s northwest.

Details of the Charges

Rosychuk faces serious allegations, including:

  • Child luring
  • Making sexually explicit materials available to a child
  • Making, possessing, and transmitting child sexual abuse materials

According to police, these offenses are related to sexually explicit online conversations that took place over two years with a student. The investigation began in early December, culminating in Rosychuk’s arrest on December 5, with assistance from the Edmonton Police Service.

Public Awareness and Safety Precautions

Authorities have chosen to release information about the case due to Rosychuk’s position of trust and authority. Investigators are unsure if additional students were affected but are encouraging anyone with pertinent information to come forward.

Rosychuk has been released from custody under several court-imposed conditions. His next court appearance is slated for December 19.

Parents are reminded to discuss the dangers of online interactions with their children as a precautionary measure. For those who may have information relevant to the investigation, they can contact local police or submit tips anonymously via Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or online at crimestoppers.ab.ca.
