Bobby Shuttleworth Appointed A&M Soccer Coach

Texas A&M soccer has announced the appointment of Bobby Shuttleworth as its new head coach. This decision follows the retirement of G Guerrieri, the only coach in the program’s history, who stepped down on October 28. Shuttleworth brings significant experience to the role after spending the last four seasons as an associate head coach at Florida State.
Bobby Shuttleworth’s Coaching Background
During his time at Florida State, Shuttleworth contributed to an impressive overall record of 70 wins, 7 losses, and 12 draws. This achievement gave the Seminoles the highest winning percentage in the nation during that period. Notably, he was a key figure in guiding Florida State to an undefeated national championship season.
Professional Career Highlights
Before transitioning into coaching, Shuttleworth had a successful 14-year career as a professional goalkeeper. His playing career statistics include:
- 81 career wins
- 53 clean sheets
- Ranking 13th for the most goalkeeper appearances in Major League Soccer history
Statements from Leadership
Texas A&M’s Director of Athletics, Trev Alberts, expressed enthusiasm about Shuttleworth’s hiring. He stated, “We are very excited to welcome Bobby and his family to Aggieland. His proven track record as both a coach and player demonstrates his capability to develop high-level talent.” Alberts highlighted Shuttleworth’s leadership qualities and competitive vision, indicating confidence in his ability to elevate the program.
The Aggies are eager to begin this new chapter under Shuttleworth’s guidance, aiming to support their student-athletes both athletically and academically. The appointment marks a significant shift as the program transitions into a post-Guerrieri era.
