Ole Miss Appoints John David Baker as Offensive Coordinator – College Football News

Ole Miss has officially appointed John David Baker as its new offensive coordinator. This move comes as part of a transition under head coach Pete Golding.
John David Baker’s Career Journey
John David Baker, aged 35, began his coaching career with the Rebels in 2021. Initially, he served as the passing game coordinator and tight ends coach. His effective strategies led to his promotion to co-offensive coordinator in 2022.
Recent Tenure at East Carolina
In 2023, Baker took a significant step in his career by joining East Carolina University (ECU) as the sole offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. During his time at ECU, Baker achieved remarkable success:
- Total offense rank: 3rd in the American Conference (465.7 yards per game)
- Passing offense rank: 3rd in the American Conference (280.7 yards per game)
- Scoring offense rank: 5th in the American Conference (33.5 points per game)
Responsibilities Ahead for Baker
As the new offensive coordinator at Ole Miss, Baker has big shoes to fill. He is stepping in to replace Lane Kiffin and Charlie Weis Jr., who previously shaped the team’s offensive strategies. Baker will lead the Rebels as they aim to build on their strong performance during the 2025 playoff run.
This pivotal appointment signifies Ole Miss’s commitment to maintaining a robust offensive strategy as they prepare for upcoming challenges.
