Amanda Holden Surprises Husband with Unconventional Anniversary Gesture

Amanda Holden commemorated her 17th wedding anniversary with husband Chris Hughes on December 10, 2025. During her show on Heart Radio, she shared fond memories of their wedding day while revealing a humorous twist to the occasion.
A Humorous Anniversary Reflection
Holden expressed her nostalgia, stating, “It feels like yesterday” since they wed at four o’clock in the afternoon. She had hoped for a snowy backdrop for their wedding ceremony. A snow effects company was hired, and even Father Christmas made an appearance with some reindeers for their daughter Lexi, who was nearly three at the time.
Celebrating the Milestone
Despite the significance of the date, Holden admitted that they do not usually celebrate it formally. “We’re a bit rubbish at it,” she remarked, noting that they typically greet each other with a simple, “Happy anniversary, darling.”
On the morning of their anniversary, she humorously shared a little mishap: one of their dogs left a mess. “I woke up this morning to one of the dogs having a poo,” she mentioned, prompting laughter from her co-host Jamie Theakston.
Unconventional Gifts
When discussing traditional anniversary gifts, Holden shared her findings from the anniversary gift list. “I can’t see what else to get Chris,” she said. In an amusing turn of events, she revealed she had forgotten to dispose of the dog waste properly. “I texted Chris, ‘Happy anniversary, I’ve accidentally left dog poo on the side for you,’” she explained, chuckling at her faux pas.
Chris’s Response
Holden later shared that Chris’s response was heartwarming. “He said, ‘I love you too,’ and sent me a picture this morning,” she recounted, highlighting their strong bond.
Life Together
Amanda and Chris have been together for over 20 years, and they share two daughters: Lexi, age 19, and Hollie, age 13. The couple first met in Los Angeles in 2003 and married five years later at St Margaret’s Church in Somerset. This is Amanda’s second marriage; she was previously married to Les Dennis from 1995 until 2003.
Reflecting on her relationship with Chris, she once stated, “He’s very funny and errs on the side of lightness.” She appreciates his support, noting that he is reliable in everyday life, emphasizing the joy they find in humor, even in challenging times.
