OSU Alumni Demand Testimony, Highlight Wexner’s Ties to Jeffrey Epstein

Alumni of Ohio State University (OSU) are pressing for testimony related to Leslie Wexner’s connections to Jeffrey Epstein. This demand comes amidst ongoing litigation concerning sexual abuse cases involving former OSU physician Dr. Richard Strauss.

Alumni Demand Wexner Testimony

The recent board meeting of OSU, chaired by John Zeiger, highlighted alumni dissatisfaction over Wexner’s avoidance of a court-ordered subpoena. Tom Lisy, an alumnus and former OSU wrestler, prepared a statement addressing Wexner’s lack of cooperation. “We are here today to publicly express our dismay that Leslie Wexner is avoiding service of a court-ordered subpoena for deposition in the Richard Strauss case,” it stated.

Background on Strauss Case

Since 2018, OSU has faced allegations that Dr. Richard Strauss sexually abused numerous students, with claims that the university failed to act on these incidents. According to a 2019 investigation, at least 177 male students were identified as victims of Strauss, who worked at OSU from the mid-1970s until the late 1990s. He died by suicide in 2005 without facing any charges related to the abuse.

OSU has settled claims from 296 survivors, allocating over $60 million in compensation. However, some claimants have rejected financial offers and continue to pursue legal action, creating ongoing challenges for the university.

The Wexner Connection

Leslie Wexner, founder of L Brands Inc., which includes brands like Victoria’s Secret, was previously on the board during Strauss’s tenure. Current litigation suggests Wexner may hold important information regarding Strauss and his actions. Wexner has not been charged with any wrongdoing in this case but is at the center of ongoing scrutiny.

Lawyers for Strauss survivors mentioned that Wexner’s private security team has hindered efforts to deliver the subpoena, a situation under consideration by Judge Michael H. Watson in federal court. They have requested alternative methods to serve Wexner, but a decision has yet to be reached.

Wexner’s Ties to Epstein

Wexner’s association with Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender, has drawn additional attention. Court documents reveal that Epstein managed Wexner’s finances and was entrusted with significant authority over his estate. Wexner has publicly denounced Epstein’s actions and claims he cut ties after allegations of trafficking came to light in 2007.

  • Wexner allegedly created a note for Epstein’s birthday in 2003.
  • Virginia Roberts Giuffre has accused Wexner of sexual misconduct.
  • Maria Farmer accused Epstein of assaulting her at a property linked to the Wexners.

While Wexner has denied these allegations, the calls for him to testify in the Strauss case continue to intensify. The OSU community seeks transparency as the university works to address the fallout from Strauss’s abuse and its previous inaction.

Current Status of Legal Proceedings

The legal proceedings involving OSU and survivors are ongoing, with various lawsuits still being navigated. Athletic Director Ross Bjork emphasized that the university prioritizes its obligation to victims while allowing the legal process to unfold.

As developments continue, stakeholder expectations grow around the resolution of both the Strauss case and the inquiries related to Wexner’s involvement.
