“Escaped Dijon Convict Blinded Ex-Partner with Fork, Lawyer Reveals”

The case of the escaped convicts from the Dijon prison has taken a significant turn. One of the inmates, aged 32, was apprehended on Friday, November 28. He had been incarcerated after inflicting serious injury on his ex-partner, using a fork to blind her in one eye. He is expected to be presented to a judge alongside an accomplice for charges related to their escape.
Details of the Incident
According to the victim’s lawyer, Marjory Weiermann, the victim’s reaction upon learning of the convict’s escape was one of immediate panic. She received the news around 9 AM and was subsequently picked up from work to collect her son from school, ensuring her safety.
Concerns About Safety
The victim expressed her disbelief at how easily the escape was executed, fearing that her former partner might attempt to harm her. “She thought he had escaped specifically to target her,” Weiermann shared.
Continued Search for the Remaining Fugitive
As of December 1, the search continues for the second inmate, a 19-year-old who remains at large. Authorities categorize him as dangerous and are closely tracking his movements. Police believed they had a solid lead on Sunday, November 30, in Besançon, specifically in the Hauts-du-Chazal area, where a raid occurred at a small building.
Raid and Arrests
- During the raid, a suspected accomplice named Yannick T. was arrested.
- Yannick T. is also 19 years old and was previously incarcerated with the fugitive.
- A 25-year-old woman is under investigation for aiding the escape; she transported the inmates shortly after their escape.
This woman claims she was unaware of their prison break at the time, but two drones were found at her residence, suspected of being used to smuggle materials into the prison, including the cutting saw blade. She has since been placed in provisional detention.
This unfolding story highlights significant issues related to prison security and the challenges faced by law enforcement in recapturing dangerous fugitives.
