Liberal Voter Confidence in Pablo Rodriguez Deteriorates, Poll Shows

Recent polling indicates a decline in liberal voter confidence in Pablo Rodriguez, the Liberal leader, amid ongoing conflict with Marwah Rizqy. The preliminary results from a Léger/Québecor survey reveal that less than half of liberal supporters trust Rodriguez.

Liberal Voter Confidence Declines

The survey, released on December 1, highlighted that only 43% of Liberal supporters have more faith in Rodriguez than in Rizqy. In contrast, Rizqy holds the confidence of a mere 12% of her fellow party members. Notably, 17% of participants expressed no trust in either leader, while 28% chose not to comment.

Ongoing Party Conflict

This conflict has significantly affected party unity, escalating over recent weeks. Just two weeks prior to the poll results, Rodriguez suspended Rizqy from the caucus, citing “lack of loyalty.” He subsequently expelled her for the same reason, which has led to increased tensions.

  • Pablo Rodriguez – Liberal leader
  • Marwah Rizqy – Party member and rival
  • Geneviève Hinse – Former chief of staff, facing reinstatement

Rizqy was actually the one who dismissed Hinse from her position on November 17 due to “serious misconduct.” As the crisis continued, Jean-Marc Léger from Léger Marketing reported that the prolonged resolution effort has eroded liberal voters’ trust in Rodriguez.

Survey Details

The Léger/Québecor poll was conducted online from November 28 to December 1, involving over 1,000 Quebec residents. These results highlight significant concerns within the Liberal Party that could impact future electoral outcomes.
