A tragic incident occurred in Scarborough on Tuesday morning when a garbage truck driver was killed by his own vehicle. The police reported that the operator was struck by the truck he was driving around 8:34 a.m. This incident took place near the intersection of Middleport Crescent and Pennyhill Drive.

The 66-year-old driver was outside of his vehicle at the time when it unexpectedly rolled away and hit him. Emergency services pronounced him dead at the scene. Mayor Olivia Chow confirmed that the truck was city-owned and expressed her condolences.
