Convicted Felon Accused of Threatening Miami-Dade Barber, Records Reveal

Police in Miami-Dade County have arrested a 48-year-old man, Darious Davis, who is accused of threatening a barber at gunpoint. This incident occurred on November 25 at Square Biz, a barbershop located in Perrine, Florida.

Details of the Incident

The confrontation reportedly took place in the presence of children. Davis allegedly shouted threats while brandishing a firearm. According to Samuel Wilson, the owner of Square Biz, Davis has been a customer for the past year.

Arrest and Charges

  • Davis was apprehended following a traffic stop on unrelated charges.
  • He was booked into the Metrowest Detention Center on November 28.
  • The charges include possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
  • On November 30, new charges were filed related to the November 25 incident.

Deputies have classified Davis as a “known violent offender.” Court records reveal a troubling criminal history, including:

  • Cocaine possession in 1993
  • Armed robbery charges in 1993 and 1998
  • Burglary with assault in 1998

Davis served time in prison from March 1999 to October 2004 and again from November 2006 to September 2017.

Court Proceedings

Davis faced multiple charges stemming from the November 25 incident:

  • Aggravated battery with a deadly weapon
  • Aggravated assault with a firearm
  • Use of a firearm to commit a felony
  • Improper exhibition of a weapon

During his bond hearings on November 29 and 30, a judge ordered him to avoid contact with Wilson and the barbershop. He was placed under house arrest upon release on bail. His bond for the more severe charges was set at $35,000. However, he was released on his own recognizance for the firearm possession act and improper exhibition of a weapon. Davis posted bond by the following Monday afternoon.

Ongoing Legal Oversight

The cases against Darious Davis will be overseen by Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Zachary James. This series of events highlights the rising concerns about public safety and the risks associated with convicted felons possessing firearms.
