Tours Offered at UN Campus Bonn

Starting April 2, 2026, Bonn, Germany, will offer guided tours of the UN Campus. This initiative follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) program and the city of Bonn.
Tours Offered at UN Campus Bonn
Guido Déus, the Mayor of Bonn, and Toily Kurbanov, Executive Coordinator of the UNV, endorsed the collaboration. Their objective is to enhance public understanding of the UN’s significant work in Bonn and to strengthen the city’s ties with various UN organizations.
Experience the UN Campus
The guided tours will allow visitors to experience firsthand the UN facilities while adhering to safety regulations. The Bonn Information Office will organize these tours in coordination with UN Bonn.
- Insight into UN organizations’ roles in Bonn
- Exploration of historically significant buildings
- Education on challenges like climate change and sustainability
Mayor Déus acknowledged Bonn as a key city for international cooperation. He emphasized that these tours would make this vital political site accessible to both locals and visitors.
Significance of the UN in Bonn
Bonn has been home to the United Nations in Germany for nearly thirty years. The city has become a recognized international hub for sustainability and global collaboration, with 27 UN organizations located there. These organizations engage in critical discussions surrounding climate, environment, and education.
Future Plans for the Tours
The guided tours form part of Bonn’s strategic development as a UN and sustainability city. The city aims to revitalize previously volunteer-run visitor services and attract new audiences. All tours will comply with UN safety standards. Visitors must pre-register, provide identification, and go through security checks.
The city will soon begin developing the content for these tours, with the goal of training tour guides in the upcoming year to ensure readiness for the inaugural tours in April 2026.
Harald Ganns, a former ambassador and current volunteer, will continue to provide advisory support for this project. His dedication has been recognized by both the UN and the city of Bonn.
